Mother’s Day is coming up soon, and rather than just get your Mom flowers, which is really not a bad gift, but why not get a sentimental gift for Mom as well?
One idea is to get a homemade gift for her. Sounds impossible, you say? Before you totally throw the baby out with the bathwater, consider a few good ideas in that department. Notice that it is not saying that you should make a homemade gift, although you can if you want to, and have the talent to do so. You can purchase a homemade gift for her.
There are several good places online where such gifts can be purchased, and of course the is also Amazon or eBay. Something really nice for the kitchen like a wall hanging or set of special place settings, will always keep you in her thoughts. Find a great plaque for mothers day too!
If you are in the mood to learn a little bit and take some time to make a gift, you can find some nice sites that will walk you through some pretty neat stuff. Take the Mint Lime Foot Soak idea. This does not sound too difficult, and it is something that Mom would appreciate.
What you can do here is to get a mason jar and get some epsom salts. Take one lime, peppermint essential oil, lime essential oil, green food coloring, some zester. Then fill the mason jar with the epsom salts, add 2 to 3 drops of the lime and the peppermint essential oils, ad 1 to 2 drops of the food coloring, and mix everything well along with the zest throughout. Put a bow around the jar and you’e in business. To use this, you Mom can sprinkle some of the contents into a foot spa appliance or use a clean dish pan, and fill it with warm water, then soak. She’ll remember you each time she soaks.
Another great sentimental gift for Mom is a Photo Monogram Letter. You can buy large wooden letters made of wood at a craft store for around $5 or $10. Choose the letter of her last name, and sand it a little. Then print off some of the pictures of the family that you know she would enjoy, and use Mod Podge to fasten them to the letter in a monogram manner.
You can use black and white photos, or color if you prefer, but paste an arrangement of them for effect, then place a light coat of lacquer over them and when it dries, it will be a memento that she will treasure for years.
There are hundreds of ideas that are available online and which are inexpensive and easy to make. Why give a give that might look attractive for the moment, but tomorrow will be forgotten or even thrown away? Get a gift that really will mean something, and is worth hanging or using so that there is a sentimental meaning to the gift that she receives from you.
